The aim is to keep the name and music of JJ Cale alive, today and in the future. He was born in 1938 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a little-known singer/songwriter until Eric Clapton heard 'After Midnight' which he recorded and went on to become a hit. This brought JJ into the spotlight and subsequently went on to be a major influence on Clapton and many other major artists including, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Jerry Garcia and Lynyrd Skynyrd. To many he was the master of laid-back R & B and went on to record 14 studio albums with numerous hits including, Call Me the Breeze, Magnolia and Cocaine. He died on 26th July 2013, and in 2019, his wife, Christine Lakeland, released the wonderful Stay Around, compiled of previously unreleased songs, available here on Lemonrock.
